Nhulunbuy is a mining town and some of the best houses in town are Alcan owned.

Most hospital staff are accommodated by Territory Housing or live in campus quarters. Private rental is expensive and not widely available.

Even so the housing available to hospital staff is comfortable, air-conditioned and within an easy travelling to distance to work, school and the shops.
